Discount coupons always attract new customers to your website. There are lots of discount coupon option in magento , like 50% off using coupon code or buy one get one free etc. Magento is very user friendly to create a discount coupon or code from admin panel. You can create more than one coupon for your magento store.
Here i am going to show how to create a discount coupon in magento from admin panel.
Steps to create discount coupon in magento
- Login to your magento admin panel.
- Click on “Promotion”-> “Shopping Cart Price Rule”
- Now you will able to see the “Shopping Cart Price Rules “ Page . On the right side of that page there is a “Add New Role” button. Click on “Add New Role”
- In the General Information page , put the Rule name.
Rule Name : Rule name is the title of the discount coupon .
Description: Description is optional part of the discount coupon. You can put brief description about the coupon .
Status : Its coupon status . If you don’t want do active the coupon at that moment , select Inactive from the dropdown.
Websites: In website it will show the store names(If you have multiple store ) . You can select the store where you want to give that discount .
Customer Groups: You can select the Customer Groups . For example if the coupon is only for only login users , don’t select Not Logged in.
Coupon: Select “Specific Coupon”
Coupon Code: This is important part of this whole process! In Coupon Code you will put you discount code which will use by your customers at the time of checkout to avail the discount.
Uses per Coupon: If you want to limit that coupon code , for example the coupon will use only 100 times and after that it will not work any more . In that case you will put 100 on Uses per Coupon option. If you don’t want to put any limit, keep it blank .
Uses per Customer: How many times a particular customers can use that coupon code . If a customer can use that code for only one time , put it as 1. If you don’t want to put any limit, keep it blank .
From Date and to date : If the coupon is valid for a particular time , you can select the date period . For example if you want to give discount of January first week , you can select date from 1 to 7 .
- Now go to the next step “Conditions”. If you want to put any condition for the coupon like the coupon will valid if the total price is above $500 or if the customer will buy more than 2 product etc.
Below the “If ALL of these conditions are TRUE :” there is a green + icon . Click on that icon and you will able to see a list of condition and you can select one condition or more than one condition also .
In the below Image I have selected two condition.
1st is Subtotal equals or greater than 500 and 2nd is Quantity equals or greater than 2 , so to use that coupon customer must full fill those above condition.
Note: It’s not necessary to put Conditions on coupon . You can create a coupon without conditions.
- Next we will go to Action option to create a discount coupon in magento.
In Action the first option is apply .
From the drop down you will able to the apply rules, like you want to give a fix amount discount or percentage discount on total shopping cost or buy one get one free .
Next the discount amount , here you will put how much fix discount or percentage discount will get using that coupon code.
You can also put other option like “Maximum Qty Discount is Applied To” or “Free Shipping” etc.
- Apply the rule only to cart items matching the following conditions (leave blank for all items)
Your magento coupon is only valid for some product category or Only some brand . In that case you can use this option to put those condition on your cart, you can leave those option blank if you don’t want to put any condition.
Now click on save button.
Yahoooo……. your coupon is created successfully! Now your customers will able to use that coupon code.
